Water Conservation Tips

Vaughn Water Company relies exclusively on groundwater for its water supply and encourages everyone to use this precious resource wisely. We are in a drought and the Governor is asking Californians to voluntarily reduce their water usage by 20%. Although we currently do not anticipate the implementation of mandatory water restrictions, we encourage your participation in this conservation effort. As drought conditions continue to strain our local water supplies, it is especially important for our customers to do their part to conserve and protect our local groundwater source. We are requesting all our customers to please conserve water inside and outside the home.

REPAIR WATER LEAKS IMMEDIATELY.VWC

If you see leaks, irrigation water flowing down the street or gutters, or any similar waste,
please (gently) bring it to the attention of the resident or call us at (661) 589-2931.

PAY CLOSE ATTENTION

to landscape watering usage and look for signs of overwatering.
Adjust sprinklers for proper coverage and adjust sprinkler timers for efficient watering.
Inspect your sprinkler system regularly.

DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS,

watering your lawn after 8 pm and prior to 5 am will help reduce the amount of water lost to
evaporation. Also, you can help reduce the load on our distribution system if you avoid watering
during the 5 am—9 am time period.

TEACH CHILDREN

that water hoses and sprinkler systems are not toys. Garden hoses can flow 10 gallons per minute and when left running unintentionally can cause your water bill to increase substantially. We have distribution system operators available that can teach you to read your water meter, calculate your average daily water usage, and determine if you have a leak. This free service can help customers save water and avoid costly water bills.
